Community Guidelines

1.Who these guidelines apply to

These Community Guidelines apply to everyone who uses Gatekept: creators, buyers, visitors and agencies. They cover everything on the platform, including profiles, usernames, bios, links, products, listings, posts, stories, comments, reviews, messages and anything you upload. They form part of the Terms of Service.

We may also act on conduct that happens off Gatekept where it targets people on the platform, puts them at risk, or is used to get around these rules, for example arranging off-platform payment for a listing on Gatekept.

Each section below matches a rule we cite when we make a decision. If a decision is made about your account, your Account Status page names the rule and links back here.

2.Minor safety

We do not allow any content or behaviour that sexualizes, exploits or endangers anyone under 18. This includes images, video, text, drawings, AI-generated or edited material, role-play, and attempts to contact minors for sexual purposes. It applies whether the depiction is real, fictional, or claimed to be of an adult who appears to be a minor.

• You must be at least 16 to hold an account and at least 18 to sell, receive payouts, or view or sell adult content.
• Accounts we reasonably believe belong to someone under 16 are disabled.
• Do not ask for, offer or share personal contact details with anyone you know or suspect to be a minor.

3.Fraud and scams

Do not take money or information from people dishonestly. This includes:

• Taking payment for something you do not intend to deliver, or delivering something materially different from what was promised.
• Phishing, fake login pages, fake payment confirmations, or requests for passwords or verification codes.
• Chargeback fraud, or buying with stolen cards or accounts.
• Fake giveaways, investment or crypto schemes, and requests for gift cards or advance payments.
• Using another person's identity or payment details.

4.Harassment and bullying

Treat people with basic respect. Do not:

• Threaten, intimidate or repeatedly target someone, including through new accounts after being blocked.
• Encourage others to pile on, report-bomb or harass someone.
• Send unwanted sexual content or advances, or keep messaging someone who has asked you to stop.
• Mock someone's appearance, illness, disability or tragedy in order to degrade them.

Critical reviews and honest disagreement are allowed. Attacks on a person are not.

5.Hate speech

Do not attack people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability or serious illness. This includes slurs used as attacks, dehumanizing comparisons, calls for exclusion or segregation, and symbols or content that praise hate groups. Discussing or condemning hate for educational or news purposes is allowed when the context is clear.

6.Violent or graphic content

Do not threaten violence, celebrate or encourage attacks on people, or support terrorist or violent extremist organizations. Do not post gratuitously graphic real-world violence or gore.

Fictional, artistic and historical depictions of violence are allowed when they are not presented to glorify real harm and are labeled where they may be disturbing.

7.Self-harm

Do not promote, encourage or give instructions for suicide, self-injury or eating disorders. Sharing your own experience or recovery is allowed. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services. If we believe someone is at imminent risk we may contact the appropriate authorities.

8.Sexual content

Adult content is allowed only within these limits:

• The creator must be at least 18, must have passed identity and age verification, and must have adult content turned on in Settings.
• Adult content must be marked as such, so it is shown only to signed-in users who are 18 or over and have chosen to see it.
• Everyone depicted must be an adult who consented to being recorded and to the content being shared and sold. Creators must be able to show this if asked.
• Adult content must not appear in profile pictures, banners, public posts or other places visible to people who have not opted in.

Never allowed, whether or not the account is verified:

• Intimate images shared without the consent of the person shown, including real or AI-generated ‘deepfakes’ of real people.
• Content depicting non-consent, incest, bestiality or sexual violence presented as real.
• Offering or arranging sexual services in person.

9.Content you don't own

Only upload and sell what you made or have the right to use.

• Do not sell or post someone else's work, templates, music, fonts, characters or brand assets without permission or a licence that covers resale.
• Do not re-upload, leak or share paid content from Gatekept or any other platform.
• Do not remove watermarks, credits or licence notices from other people's work.
• If your work uses AI tools, describe your process honestly. Do not present AI-generated work as hand-made.

Copyright owners can ask us to remove infringing material under our Copyright Policy. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are disabled.

10.Impersonation and authenticity

• Do not pretend to be another person, creator, brand or organization, including Gatekept staff.
• Fan, parody and commentary accounts must say so clearly in the name or bio.
• Do not create accounts to evade a restriction or a disabled account. These are disabled when found.
• Agencies may act for the creators on their roster only within the permissions those creators gave.

11.Spam and platform manipulation

Do not:

• Post repetitive, unwanted or automated content, comments or messages.
• Use bots, scripts or other automation to follow, like, message, post or buy.
• Inflate views, sales, followers or reviews, including by buying them or by using multiple accounts.
• Write fake reviews, review your own products, or offer anything in exchange for a positive review.
• Abuse the referral programme, for example by referring yourself.

Accounts showing automated behaviour may be asked to confirm that a person is in control before continuing.

12.Taking buyers off Gatekept

Sales that start on Gatekept must be paid for on Gatekept. This protects buyers, who otherwise have no record or recourse, and protects creators from scams that begin with “pay me directly”.

• Do not ask buyers to pay you outside Gatekept for a product, commission or listing found here, or offer a discount to do so.
• Do not post payment handles, bank details or contact details in listings, intake forms or messages to move a sale elsewhere.
• Links to your other profiles on your Socials page are allowed. Using them to complete a Gatekept sale elsewhere is not.

In-person marketplace listings are the exception: those are always settled in person (see Selling items in person).

13.Honest listings and delivery

• Describe products accurately, including what the buyer receives, the file format, and any limits on use.
• Use preview images that show the actual product. Samples must not be presented as the item for sale when they are not.
• Use the product type that matches what the buyer receives (see Choosing the right product type). Custom work made after the order is a commission, not a file or a link.
• The thing delivered must be the thing sold. A link to a social media profile, link-in-bio page or inbox is not a product.
• Deliver commissions within the turnaround and revision terms you set, and auctions to the winning bidder.
• Do not list placeholder, empty or duplicate products to game search.

Selling terms are set out in full in the Seller Agreement.

14.Privacy and safety

• Do not share anyone's private information (home address, phone number, government ID, private photos) without their consent.
• Do not publish private messages or a buyer's order details.
• Respect message settings and blocks. Do not use other accounts or other platforms to get around them.
• Do not record or screenshot protected content to share or sell it.

15.Illegal goods and activity

Do not use Gatekept to sell, promote or arrange anything illegal where you or the buyer are located, including drugs, weapons and their parts, explosives, counterfeit goods, stolen property, recalled products, live animals, prescription medicines, or services that facilitate crime. Decisions under this section are recorded under the closest rule above or as a general breach of these guidelines.

16.Selling items in person

Marketplace item listings are for physical goods sold locally and settled in person. Gatekept does not handle payment for these sales and offers no purchase protection on them.

• The rules on illegal goods and activity apply. Listings for prohibited items are removed and count toward strikes.
• Meet in a public place, bring someone with you if you can, and inspect the item before paying.
• Never pay in advance. Requests for gift cards, deposits or screenshots of payments are scams.

17.Reporting

Use the report option on any profile, product, post, comment or message. Reports are reviewed by people. When several different people report the same item it may be hidden while it is reviewed.

Knowingly false or abusive reports are themselves a violation. To report copyright infringement, follow the Copyright Policy. For anything urgent, email on@gateke.pt.

18.How we enforce these guidelines

When we find a violation we remove the content involved and record a decision on the account. Most decisions count as a strike. Each strike expires 12 months after it is issued. The number of active strikes on an account determines what happens next:

Exceptions

• A single violation of Minor safety (section 2) or Fraud and scams (section 3) disables the account.
• We may remove content without a strike where the problem was a mistake rather than misconduct, for example a listing set up with the wrong product type.
• We may also restrict messaging, or stop an account from being recommended, for a limited period where needed to protect others.
• We may act faster or more severely where there is a risk of real-world harm, or where the law requires it.

What you will see

You are notified when a decision is made. Your Account Status page lists every decision, the rule it relates to, your active strikes and any restrictions with their end dates. Restrictions end automatically on the date shown.

Decisions are made by our moderation team. Automated tools help us find content to review; they do not on their own disable accounts or hold payouts.

19.Reviews and appeals

If you believe a decision was wrong, you can request a review from your Account Status page. Each decision can be reviewed once. Reviews are carried out by someone who was not involved in the original decision.

• If we reverse a decision, the strike is removed, anything it restricted is restored, and removed content is put back where possible.
• If we uphold a decision, it stays on the account until the strike expires.
• If your account is disabled, you can request a review from the notice shown when you sign in, or by emailing on@gateke.pt.
• Decisions involving child sexual exploitation are not reversed through this process.

Nothing in these guidelines limits any right you have under applicable law to challenge a decision by other means.

20.Changes to these guidelines

We update these guidelines as the platform and the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect. Decisions are judged under the version in force when the conduct happened.
